Oliver Stearman lived on the border of England and Wales only a mere 30 minutes from the original Welsh quarries that provided some of the first famous slate. Having worked and trained in England and Wales, he brings the classical elements of traditional slating but with a modern Australian twist.
The team has worked with some of the biggest names in the slating game and the combination of their English, Welsh, and Australian heritage (and with their long history and passion for roofing) can be seen in the beautiful work they produce.

Restoring a Heritage Slate Roof
We recently completed a full restoration of a heritage-listed slate roof on a classic home in Woollahra. The house sits in one of the area’s most iconic heritage streets, so keeping the look and feel true to the original design was a top priority.
The work:
We stripped it back, replaced all battens, installed breathable sarking, and re-slated the entire roof using natural slate.This slate gives that traditional look while meeting today’s standards for durability and weather resistance. We kept everything in line with council heritage requirements and, more importantly, with the street’s aesthetic.
The result:
A clean, sharp looking roof that not only protects the home but fits in perfectly with the neighbourhood’s old-world charm. The client called us “professional and civil” and even said they now have the “best roof in the street”- we’ll take that!
